Images in Encaustic

  • ATELIER Truckee, CA (map)

Encaustic, hot wax, is a versatile medium that anyone can use to create stunning pieces in just a few hours. Students will learn the basics of working with wax as a medium and then focus on mastering collage and transfer techniques. Students will be provided with a wide selection of images to work with, but are also encouraged to bring their own photography, vintage imagery, old text or photocopies. We will also explore carbon transfers, incising, and mica powders to finish works. Each student will go home with two finished products.
