Balance in Movement

two recent paintings: "thunderous wall" and "and it rained"

It rained here most of the week. It was fitting then that I was painting rain...a couple sibling paintings to the Bliss painting I did a couple weeks ago. Trying out painting a collection of closely related paintings within the Home series. It has taught me a lot and been fun. My work is serious, but having fun is still key.

We leave for Europe soon. The count-down begins. Supplies for the residency have been ordered. Love the colors I got from R&F Paints – encaustics and pigment sticks! Trying to figure out what is coming, what is staying. I keep trying to work at the To Do list, but I know the last minute things will overwhelm me anyway. But I am trying to not let that happen!

$300+ of lovely colored wax from R&F Paints! Getting ready to bring it all to Spain. This afternoon I escaped the To Dos and had a lovely afternoon with Mindy Tsonas of Wish Studio. We went to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and then shops and dinner in Northampton. It was great to shed the demands of working at home and be out in the sun talking and making fun self-portraits (that was the activity at the museum today!). It is often hard for me to unplug, but once I do, meeting people always fills me up and energizes me for more of life.

Playing at the Eric Carle Museum and dinner at Paul and Elizabeth's in Northampton.

So there is a lot going on right now. Leaving, preparing, painting, and still finding time for friends. Tomorrow I get to hang out with Sarah and Ada. Looking forward to that too! I just love watching my friends' kids growing and learning.
